Dahl served a two-year term as the women's soccer head coach at Dixie College. In 1998, her junior college team finished fifth nationally among NJCAA schools and third nationally in 1999, winning conference and division championships in both seasons.

She took over the program in only its second year of being a sanctioned sport and guided several players to National and Academic All-American recognition.

After coaching at Dixie College, she returned home and served as an assistant coach at UNLV. A Las Vegas native, Dahl (maiden name Mendenhall) attended Bonanza High School, where she was a four-time All-State player, team MVP and Sunset Division MVP. She was also a member of two state championship teams and went back to her alma mater in 1996 to serve as a volunteer assistant coach.

Dahl is a 2000 graduate of Brigham Young University where she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology. She was a three-year starting forward for the Cougars from 1993-96 and led the team in scoring her sophomore season.
