Utah Tech University Sports Medicine Philosophy
The Utah Tech University Sports Medicine Staff is committed to provide the best quality health care to all student-athletes. This commitment is achieved through utilizing the most modern techniques, skills, equipment, and evidence based health care as a priority for all Trailblazer student-athletes.
The services provided by the Athletic Training Staff are divided into six domains established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association. The domains are:
1) illness prevention and wellness protection;
2) clinical evaluation and diagnosis;
3) immediate and emergency care;
4) treatment and rehabilitation;
5) organization; and
6) professional health and well-being.
What Is an Athletic Trainer
"A certified athletic trainer (ATC) is a highly educated and skilled professional specializing in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the ATC functions as an integral member of the athletic healthcare team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, industrial settings and other healthcare environments."
