Utah Tech closes out the fall portion of team's 2025-26 schedule this Monday and Tuesday at the Northern Arizona Clash at Boulder Creek. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the par-72, 6,429-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
The 19-team field features the Trailblazers and the host Lumberjacks, along with CSU Bakersfield, CSUN, Drake, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Nebraska, New Mexico State, North Dakota State, San Francisco, South Dakota, Southern Utah, Tarleton State, UC Riverside, UNLV, Utah Valley and UTEP.
The five player lineup for the Trailblazers will feature senior
Jane Olson, juniors
Mia Cesarek,
Samantha Phelan and
Samira Salinas, and sophomore
Maria Purroy Galan. In addition, freshman
Coryn Tardif will play as an individual.
HEAD COACH LINDSEY ORTH: Lindsey Orth (Utah Tech, 2007) is in her 10th season as head coach of the Trailblazer women's golf program.
Last season, Coach Orth finished its fifth season of NCAA Division I play with four top-5 showings in nine team events, highlighted by a t-second place finish at the Utah Valley Wigwam Preview in February (2/2-4/25), and a seventh-place showing at the 2025 WAC Championships.
Prior to her arrival at Utah Tech, she served as assistant golf professional at the Sand Hollow Golf Resort, and as an LPGA assistant teaching professional for the City of St. George. Orth also spent two seasons on the coaching staff of the Hurricane High School girl's golf program, including a one-year stint as the Tigers' head coach in the 2010-11 season.
Coach Orth, who is an apprentice member of the LPGA T&CP, played collegiately at the University of Central Arkansas, where she helped lead the Bears to six-consecutive team tournament wins and a Gulf South Conference championship.
LAST TIME OUT: Utah Tech came away with a 13
th-place finish at the Arkansas State Red Wolves Classic, which was played this past Oct. 13-14, at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro.
The Trailblazers stood in the middle of the pack in eighth place after opening with a first round 6-over par 294. Unfortunately Utah Tech could not keep the momentum going as it combined to shoot an 18-over 306 in round two, which dropped the Blazers to t-12
th at plus-24 300.
Utah Tech came back on with a final round 5-over 293, but could not make up any ground on the field, and wound up with a three-round total of plus-29 893.
Bolstered by an opening 2-under 70 and a bogey-free final round 3-under 69, Purroy Galan (70-77-69) was Utah Tech's top finisher as she joined six others tied for 16
th at even par 216. The sophomore rolled in a team-high 11 total birdies overall, five of which came during her first loop.
Meanwhile, Cesarek (75-76-73) finished in a seven-way tie for 56
th at plus-8 224, followed by Phelan (78-78-74) in t-63
th at plus-10 226, senior
Jenna Anderson (75-78-77) in t-76
th at plus-14 230, and freshman
Gabrielle Roznicki (74-79-79) in 83
rd at plus-16 232 in her first collegiate team event.
TRAILBLAZERS AT A GLANCE: Through three events this fall season, Purroy Galan leads the team with a 72.14 stroke average through seven rounds with a team-best five par or better rounds and one top-10, while Phelan is second at 74.00 with one par or better round and a team-high two top-10s.
Cesarek is fourth in stroke average at 74.88 through eight rounds with two par-or-better loops, followed by Olson in fifth at 76.20, and Samiras in sixth at 76.33 in three fall rounds.
NEXT UP FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS: Utah Tech will open its 2026 spring schedule at the UC Riverside Soboba Spring Classic. The three-day, 54-hole event will be played on Feb. 6-8, at the Soboba Casino Resort Golf Club in San Jacinto, Calif.
