Utah Tech finished in the middle of the pack in fifth place at the Southern Utah Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, which wrapped up play on Sunday at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George.

The Blazers' fifth place result is the team's third top-five showing in seven team events this season.

After opening with a 19-over 307 to stand in fifth place on Friday, Utah Tech improved by five shots in round two on Saturday with a 14-over 302, but remained in fifth on the team leaderboard.Â

The Trailblazers briefly moved up to fourth during Sunday's final loop, but wound up settling for fifth place after posting a 10-over 298. Â
Weber State (296-281-289-866; +2) began the final day atop the leaderboard, and the Wildcats held off Stetson (294-287-290-871; +7) to claim the team title by five strokes, while Wyoming (295-287-302-884; +20) placed third.

Samantha Phelan played three days of steady golf en route to her best individual finish of the season in solo-fifth place at plus-1 217. Phelan, who penciled in three birdies in each of her three rounds, opened with a 1-over 73, which she followed with consecutive even-par 72s on Saturday and Sunday.Â

Maria Purroy Galan opened her tournament with a 3-over 75, and after a 4-over 76 on Saturday, came back with two birdies and 12 pars on her way to a final round 2-over 74, to tie three others for 16
th at plus-nine 225. Purroy Galan recorded two birdies on each of her three scorecards on the weekend.  Â

Meanwhile
Mia Cesarek, who rolled in five total birdies over her three rounds, fired back-to-back 76s, followed by a final round 5-over 77 to tie for 21
st at plus-13 229.Â

Jane Olson (83-78-76; two birdies) moved up three spots on the final day to finish in solo 36
th-place at plus-21 237, while
Jenna Anderson (85-79-76; five birdies) returned to action for the first time this spring and finished in a two-way tie for 44
th at plus-24 240.Â

Three more Trailblazers played as individuals over the weekend.

Gabrielle Roznicki fired Utah Tech's lowest round of the event with a collegiate career-low 69 during the second round. Roznicki (77-69-76) rolled in six of her team-high 11 total birdies during that second loop, which helped propel her to her best collegiate finish with a solo 12
th-place score of plus-6 222.Â

Samira Salinas (plus-13 229) rebounded from an opening 7-over 79 with consecutive 75s, and finished with six total birdies on the weekend, to tie her teammate Cesarek for 21
st place. In addition,
Coryn Tardiff (87-87-81-255; +39) tallied four birdies as she finished in solo 58
th place.

Utah Tech return to action in two weeks to play in the Minnesota-hosted Bell Bank Pay It Forward Classic, which will be played on March 23-24, at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park.
