Dixie State closed out its 2021-22 regular season with a t-seventh place finish at the Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic on Tuesday at The Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Trailblazers (307-317-322-948; +82) started out with their lowest score of the event with a 19-over 307 on Monday morning, which was good for seventh place. DSU would remain in seventh after its second loop after firing a 29-over 314 on Monday afternoon, then carded a 34-over 322 on Tuesday to tie for seventh with host MSU (315-320-311-948; +82).
Santa Clara (294-298-300-892, +28) protected its 36-hole lead on Tuesday en route to claiming the team title, 10 strokes clear of runner-up Northern Arizona (293-308-303-902; +38).
Two Trailblazers posted top-20 finishes on the leaderboard, led by junior
Abby Livingston (73-75-80), who joined two other tied for 13
th at plus-12 228. Livingston wound up tied for fourth in the field with eight birdies over her three loops, including three birdies as part of her opening 1-over 73 on Monday morning.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Abbey Porter (75-79-76) finished in a four-way tie for 18
th at plus-14 230. Porter rolled in five total birdies, highlighted a three-birdie effort in firing a 3-over 75 in round one.
In addition, sophomore
Taylor Naumann (78-81-81) tied for 37
th at plus-24 240, followed by junior
Tayllore Ward (81-82-85) in 51
st at plus-32 248, and sophomore
Grace Williams (91-83-87) placed 56
th at plus-45 261.
Dixie State will wrap up the season at the 2022 Western Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships, which will be held on April 18-20, at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas.
