(St. George - Feb. 12, 2026) – Utah Tech women's track & field heads north for the Mountain State Games, beginning Friday, February 13th, hosted by Idaho State in Pocatello, Idaho. This is a two day event that concludes the following day, Saturday, February 14th.
UT will get started with the 60m hurdles at 10 a.m. on Friday morning, and wrap up with the 4x400-meter relay at approximately 2:35 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Trailblazers won two titles and set a program record at the Ron Mann Classic hosted by Northern Arizona University two weekends ago. Senior
Lainee Leavitt won the high jump, tying her season best and the Utah Tech all-time indoor record at a height of 1.65 meters (5-5.0). Utah Tech also swept the top four in the 3,000 meters, highlighted by Junior
Averie Perriton who won the title with a time of 10:39.33, which ranks ninth all-time in UT history. Junior
Mille Roesaeg set the Utah Tech all-time indoor record in the shot put with a mark of 10.11 meters (33-2.0) to take eighth.
LAST YEAR'S MOUNTAIN STATE GAMES
UT set three program records and recorded 11 top-eight finishes at the 2025 Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho. Returning Trailblazers with top-eight finishes include:
Whitney Christiansen (400 Meters/4x400-Meter Relay),
Megan Jenkins (400 Meters/4x400-Meter Relay),
Lily Sampson (400 Meters/4x400-Meter Relay), Illenia DeHart (4x400-Meter Relay), and
Lainee Leavitt (High Jump).
AT THE HELM
Justin Decker is beginning his first season as the Director of Track & Field and his 10th year on the women's track & field staff. Decker is also the head coach of the women's cross country team, whom he has guided for the past 15 seasons.
During his tenure at UT, Decker has mentored 25 all-conference, seven all-region, and two All-American student-athletes (Rachel Young in 2012 and Billie Hatch in 2019).

Utah Tech returns 19 Trailblazers from last year's roster, including seven distance runners, three mid-distance runners, eight sprinters, four hurdlers and two jumps specialists.
