Box Score (Ogden, Utah - Jan. 23, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis picked up its first win of the season, dispatching Weber State, 5-2, on Friday inside the Ogden Athletic Club.
The in-state victory was Utah Tech's first road-opener win at the Division I level.

Ana Gutierrez Sampere took down WSU's Jessica Hill and Naomi Johnson, 6-4, at first doubles. In another 6-4 decision, sophomores
Maya Inouye and
Nutsa Tsintsadze bested Wildcats Maggie Song and Savannah Johnson at second doubles. Weber State (0-1, 0-0 Big Sky) forfeited third doubles.
After another WSU forfeit at No. 6 singles, Song picked up the Wildcats' first point, 6-3, 6-2, over junior
Olivia Bustos at No. 2 singles.
Gutierrez Sampere answered for the Trailblazers, taking down Johnson at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 7-5. It was Gutierrez Sampere's second singles win in a row.
At No. 4 singles, Inouye tallied her first singles win of 2026. She rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win in straight sets over Weber State's Aleks Bozinovska.
Zurita Berdecio outlasted Hill at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
"Marianna played confident and closed out the third set dominantly," Pelton said.
Weber State claimed its second point, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
The Trailblazers head to Sin City next weekend for three matches over three days at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nevada. UT opens the weekend against Youngstown State on Friday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. (MT).
