(Flagstaff, AZ – Sept 27, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis completes its second tournament of the fall season, with competitive play in the Lumberjack Classic this weekend.

The Lumberjack Classic took place from Friday, Sept 25 through Sunday, Sept 27 in Flagstaff, Arizona. Northern Arizona hosted the tournament at the NAU Aquatic and Tennis Complex. The tournament consisted of Utah Tech, North Texas, New Mexico State, and the host, Northern Arizona.

Day 1
Cameron Hendrix and Mariana Zurita Berdecio headlined the play for Utah Tech on day one, as both took home singles match victories. Mariana was able to cruise to a win in straight sets over New Mexico State, but Cameron had to battle. Hendrix dropped the first set, but was able to come from behind with a pair of 6-3 set victories to win the match.

The Trailblazers dropped each of their doubles matches on day one, but Adriana Zurita Berdecio and Maya Inouye took their match to a tiebreak.

Day 2
The Trailblazers were able to pick up their first doubles win of the weekend, as Ilse Fernanda Elechiguerra Ortega and Cameron Hendrix secured a 6-4 win over New Mexico State.

In the first round of singles matches on day two, Hendrix battled for over three and a half hours in her match. Unfortunately, she fell just short in the third set.

In the second round of singles matches, UT picked up a pair of wins as Maya Inouye dominated in straight sets and Ilse Fernanda Elechiguerra Ortega recorded her first singles win of the weekend in three sets.
