(Chubbuck, Idaho - Sept. 12, 2025) – Utah Tech women's tennis had a solid first day of the Idaho State Invitational at Capell Park on Friday. Split up into pairs of two, the Trailblazers combined for four singles wins and two doubles wins, winning three of their four matchups.

Junior Olivia Bustos and sophomore Maya Inouye fell in their doubles match, 3-8, to ISU's Evelina Zhuk and Victoria Grymalska. Both bounced back in singles action as Bustos was victorious 6-2, 6-0, and Inouye won 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. 

In the Bengal bracket, senior Nicole Kells and freshman Cameron Hendrix picked up a doubles win, 8-4, over Montana's Kate Prichard and Kaylin Kielty. Kells went on to win her singles match 6-4, 6-1, while Hendrix fell 6-3, 6-2. 

Also in the Bengal bracket, sophomore Nutsa Tsintsadze and senior Raquel Roshak won their doubles match, 8-6, over ISU's Emmy Richards and Journee Hartman. Roshak went on to take her singles match 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), while Tsintsadze was bested 7-6 (3), 4-6, 11-9.

Juniors Mariana Zurita and Ana Gutierrez Sampere dropped their doubles match to Idaho State's Stefanya Shalakhova and Asem Shoybek, 8-1. Both fell in close singles action as well, with Zurita going down 7-5, 6-4, and Gutierrez Sampere short at 6-4, 6-4.

UT continues the ISU Invitational tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Zurita and Gutierrez Sampere will face Montana's Kelsey Phillips and Meghna Anand in the orange bracket. In the black bracket, Inouye and Bustos will challenge ISU's Sydney Morris and Emmy Richards. In the Bengal bracket, Tsintsadze and Roshak will take on their teammates Hendrix and Kells.
