2024-25 (Nov.) Early Signees Release

Utah Tech head baseball coach Chris Pfatenhauer has announced the signing of nine players to play for the Trailblazers in upcoming 2026 season. The spring/summer signing class features five pitchers, including two lefthanders, along with two infielders and two outfielders. 
 
Jackson Price | RHP | 6-2 | 180 | Hillsboro, Ore. | Hillsboro HS | Chaffey College
  • Was named 2025 Inland Empire Conference Pitcher of the Year.
  • Posted a 6-2 record with a 4.40 ERA in 13 appearances. 
  • Led the Panther staff with 91 strikeouts in 71.2 IP.  
Pfatenhauer on Jackson Price – "We are excited about the addition of Jackson to the Trailblazer Family. Jackson was the IEAC Pitcher of the Year at Chaffey College in 2025. Jackson will immediately make our pitching staff better."
 
Brandon Wyland | RHP | 5-11 | 175 | Cypress, Calif. | Esperanza HS | Cypress CC
  • Earned 2025 First Team all-Orange Empire league honors. 
  • Went 9-2 in 17 starts in 2025 with a 2.73 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 95.2 IP
  • Finished second on the staff with a 1.20 WHiP. 
  • Pitched to a 3-2 record with a 4.40 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 47.0 IP in a freshman in 2024. 
  • Earned three varsity letters in baseball at Esperanza HS.
  • Went 4-4 in 10 appearances with 52 strikeouts in 44.2 IP during his senior season in 2023.  
Pfatenhauer on Brandon Wylan – "We couldn't be happier to add another player from Cypress College. Brandon anchored the Charger staff in 2025 and pitched big innings en route to a semifinal appearance for his club. He is a winner and comes from a storied junior college in Southern California."
 
Bryan Martinez | OF | 6-0 | 205 | Huntington Beach, Calif. | Orange Lutheran HS | Golden West College 
  • Was a 2025 first team all-Orange Empire, ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association first team all-region, and ABCA/Rawlings third team all-America selection. 
  • Batted .305 with eight doubles, 12 homers, 46 RBI and 36 runs scored last season. 
  • Originally signed at Long Beach State out of high school, where he appeared in three games in 2023.  
Pfatenhauer on Bryan Martinez – "Bryan's 12 home runs in 2025 led his club as he was one of the top offensive performers in the state of California last season. His power potential will be very welcome to the Trailblazer lineup in 2026."
 
David Sheppard | LHP | 6-1 | 190 | Goodyear, Ariz. | Millenium HS 
  • Was the 2025 Arizona 6A Baseball Pitcher of the Year.
  • Went 4-0 in nine appearances with a 1.29 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 49.0 IP. 
  • Finished with 10 career prep victories over four seasons along with a 2.06 career ERA and 122 punch outs in 122.1 IP. 
Pfatenhauer on David Sheppard – "David will add much needed depth as a left-hander. David posted a career 2.06 era in over 100 innings pitched."
 
Brandon Kosel | RHP | 6-3 | 205 | Albuquerque, N.M. | La Cueva HS | Scottsdale CC 
  • Pitched two seasons for the Fighting Artichokes and posted a 10-3 career record and a 3.79 ERA in 30 appearances overall. 
  • Went 6-3 last season with a 3.87 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 74.1 IP on his way to second team all-conference honors.  
  • Posted a 4-0 record in 16 appearances with 28 strikeouts in 25.1 innings as a freshman in 2023.  
Pfatenhauer on Brandon Kosel – "We are thrilled with the addition of Brandon to our pitching staff. He was a staple in the Fighting Artichoke's rotation the past 2 seasons in Scottsdale. His 10.90 K/9 in 2025 was amongst the best in the conference."
 
Miller Durham | 1B | 6-2 | 220 | Las Vegas, Nev. | Faith Lutheran HS | CC Southern Nevada
  • Hit .333 with 12 doubles, five triples, four homers and 51 RBI in 58 games at CSN last season. 
  • Tallied 46 runs scored and struck out only 26 times in 233 total plate appearances.
  • Originally signed at Point Loma Nazarene out of high school, where he hit .211 with two XBHs in 21 games in 2024. 
  • Batted .386 with 12 doubles, four triples and 25 RBI as a senior at Faith Lutheran HS in 2023.  
Pfatenhauer on Miller Durham – "Miller will be yet another great addition to our program by way of the College of Southern Nevada. The first baseman's 21 extra base hits were complimented by 9 stolen bases and exceptional defense in 2025. I look for him to be a vital piece for us in 2026."
 
Gavin Grutzmacher | RHP | 5-11 | 180 | Temecula, Calif. | Temecula Valley HS | Coppin State  
  • Batted .317 with 4 HR and 27 RBI in 46 games last season at Coppin State.
  • Led the team in triples (3), SB (7-9), second in doubles (9) and third in base hits (52), Co-led the team with 39 runs scored.
  • Played at Irvine Valley College in 2024 and batted .260 with 33 hits, nine doubles, three HR and 11 RBI 
  • Originally signed at Concordia-Irvine and batted .220 in 27 games as a freshman in 2023. 
Pfatenhauer on Gavin Grutzmacher – "Gavin comes to us after spending 2025 with Coppin State, where he set the program's single season record for HBP (21) while adding 31 walks and four home runs. Gavin will bring intensity to our program that will be unmatched."
 
Hudson Manwaring | OF | 6-1 | 185 | Salt Lake City, Utah | Skyline HS | Salt Lake CC 
  • Was a first team all-Region 18 honoree and helped lead the Bruins to the 2025 NJCAA World Series national championship. 
  • Batted .379 and led the Scenic West Athletic Conference in hits (81) and doubles (22), as was second in stolen bases (17-for-19) and RBI (71), and t-third in runs scored (49). 
  • Struck out only three times in 103 plate appearances in conference play, and only fanned 15 times in 243 plate appearances overall. 
Pfatenhauer on Hudson Manwaring – "Hudson played a key role in Salt Lake CC's 2025 JUCO World Series title run. He is a dynamic athlete who had 28 extra base hits and 17 stolen bases for the Bruins last season. We couldn't be happier to welcome Hudson to Trailblazer Nation!"
 
Bryce Intagliata | LHP | 6-2 | 185 | Mesquite, Nev. | Virgin Valley HS | College of Southern Idaho 
  • Went 5-2 in 14 appearances (12 starts) and led the Golden Eagles staff with 61 strikeouts in 61.2 IP. 
  • Posted a 4.67 ERA with 2 complete games.
  • Prepped at Virgin Valley HS in Mesquite, where he went 9-1 with a 0.94 ERA and struck out 78 in 52.0 IP in 10 appearances.
  • Posted a 19-3 career prep record with 229 strikeouts and a 1.40 ERA over three seasons.
Pfatenhauer on Bryce Intagliata – "Bryce spent the summer playing with current Trailblazers Petey Soto Jr. and Kyle McDaniel with the Portland Pickles. Bryce helped fill various roles in the Golden Eagle staff last spring posting a 4.28 ERA. He will help us give a much needed look from the left side this upcoming season."
