Trailblazer Baseball Lands Nine During November Signing Period

Utah Tech head baseball coach Chris Pfatenhauer has announced the addition of nine players to his 2025 November early signing class.
 
The signing class is made up of six high school players, along with three junior college transfers, and features four pitchers, two infielders, two outfielders and one catcher. 
 
"Our coaching staff, led by Braxton Ipson, has done an amazing job of attacking this class," Coach Pfatenhauer said. "This class has a nice mix of high school and junior college players and of pitchers and hitters. These players come from top tier high school programs and championship junior colleges from around the West. This is a competitive group and our largest class in a few years. These guys will be a huge part of our future and our jump to the Mountain West Conference in 2027."

  • Sam was an a 3x Gold Glove, 3x first Team All-League, and 2x All-State Selection while prepping at Mount Spokane High School.

  • Ranked as a Top 60 Infielder in the state of California by Prep Baseball Report.
  • Preps at nationally ranked Orange Lutheran High School where he helped the Lancers to a 23-7 overall record as a junior.

  • Hit .412 and fielded .971 during his junior season.
  • Preps at nationally ranked Notre Dame Prep, where he helped the Knights to a 15-win season in 2025.

  • Will serve a 2-year LDS Mission before starting his career at Utah Tech in the Fall of 2028.

  • Struck out 98 batters in 70.2 IP as a junior. Also held opposing hitters to a .218 batting average. 
  • Led Canyon del Oro with 9 wins on the mound in 12 starts as a junior. 
  • 2025 5A All-Conference First Team Selection.

Fayette, Utah / Gunnison Valley HS
  • Led GVHS in several major categories including Home Runs (4), Average (.478), RBI (32), Wins (5), and Strikeouts (103) in 2025.
  • Set the GVHS record for strikeouts in a season during by striking out 103 batters in just 57.2 IP. Also held opponents to a .198 batting average. 
  • 2025 2A First Team All-State Selection.

Tucson, Ariz. / Salpointe Catholic HS
  • 2025 Arizona 4A Player of the Year. 
  • 2025 4A All-Conference First Team Selection.
  • Hit .418 with 13 extra base hits and 13 stolen bases in route to leading Salpointe Catholic to a 4A State Title in 2025.
  • Ranked as a Top 10 Outfielder in the state of Arizona by Prep Baseball Report.

Degan Rigby
Right Handed Pitcher / R-R / 6-4 / 220  
Riverside, Utah / Bear River HS / College of Southern Idaho
  • Struck out 32 batters in 22.2IP for CSI in 2025.
  • 2025 Second Team All-SWAC Selection.
  • Went 18-5 on the mound during his high school career at Bear River while striking out 171 batters in 140 innings. During his senior season in 2024, he hit .402 with 6 doubles and 4 home runs.
  • Was a 2x 4A All State Selection in 2023 and 2024.
