We were just a few days removed from the annual band competition at Greater Zion Stadium and the sounds of flutes, oboes, and trumpets filling the air; but there was still the sound of drums banging around the south end of campus…or was that the Navy bats!?  Navy pounded out 13 hits on Thursday in a trouncing of the Red squad. Red was decimated with injuries coming into and during the serious and could not muster anything up for game three. "You had to give the edge to Red coming into the evening with where their pitching was, but at the end of the day it wasn't enough." – Pfatenhauer stated
Game three was won in dominate fashion by the Navy squad, with Hudson Manwaring and Miller Durham providing the fireworks. Unlike games one and two, Navy scored first in game three and never looked back.  Navy plated four runs in the first, three earned, and tacked on four more runs in the 6th through 8th innings. Red managed just five base runners, two on singles and three on walks and were not able to get a runner to third base.  The game ended after the 8th inning as the eight-run rule was in effect.  Commissioner Pfatenhauer on the offense, "though both teams were handed a few freebies, you still have to capitalize on them; Navy did and Red could not".
Navy hitters stayed hot, plating eight runs on thirteen hits and drawing two walks. Manwaring had three hits and scored two runs, while Ryan Kroepel, Miller Durham, Ty Johnsen, and Gavin Glasgow each contributed a pair of hits. The BIG HOS award for the Hitter of the Series was Hudson Manwaring (7 for 14, 4 Runs, 2 RBI), and 2 SB. The Co-Pitchers of the Series was Ethan Gardner (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 3.2 Innings, 1 Hit, and 7 Ks) and Aaron Morris (3.1 Innings, 0 Hits, and 5 K's).
Next up for the Trailblazers in their Annual Trailblazer Challenge, which kicks off Monday.
