Utah Tech head women's golf coach Lindsey Orth announced on Tuesday the signing of a pair of prep standouts to join the Trailblazer program ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The Trailblazers landed three-time Utah 4A first team all-state selection Kate Walker from St. George's Crimson Cliffs High School, along with Hawai'i all-state performer Ava Kawamara

Walker helped lead CCHS to the 2025 4A state title this past spring, thanks in part shooting a 1-under 143 to claim individual runner-up honors. That effort came after she won medalist honors at the 4A championships during her freshman (2023) and sophomore (2024) seasons.

In addition, Walker earned 2025 Utah Golf Association Women's Player of the Year accolades after she posted a runner-up finish at the 119th Utah State Women's Amateur this past July. Walker was the first high school golfer in more than a decade to claim the UGA's top women's honor.

"I'm thrilled I can finally welcome Kate as a Trailblazer," said Coach Orth. "I've had the opportunity to get to know her as she is from right here in St. George. She has had a lot of success here in Utah. Most recently making it to the final match in the Utah Women's State Amateur.

"Kate is a competitor and has played well in big moments," Coach Orth went on to say. "She has a complete game and plays aggressively. I look for Kate to have an immediate impact on the team and our success."

Kawamara (Lahaina, Maui) earned medalist honors as part of a 2023 Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) team championship at Maui Prep Academy. She also helped lead the Pueo to a third-place showing at the 2025 Hawai'i Division I Championships last spring.

Kawamara has played junior golf in Maui for nearly 10 years and is ready to take that next step at the next level.

"I think Ava will fit in well here at Utah Tech," Coach Orth said. "Every conversation I have had with her leads me to believe she will be a fantastic teammate which is something very important to me. She has a solid all game and she impressed me with her course management skills and her ability to get the most out of her game."
