OPENING SERVE
The Trailblazers return home for the first time since Oct. 4 on Thursday night hosting Abilene Christian before making the short trek north on Saturday afternoon for a showdown at Utah Valley.
LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEK
The Trailblazers saw their six-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon at UT Arlington falling to the Mavericks in four sets.
Utah Tech was able to take the second set, 25-17, but dropped the opening set, 14-25 along with the third & fourth sets, 26-28 & 22-25.
It was the Trailblazers' first setback in WAC action and first loss in nearly a month.
Casidy Fried led Utah Tech with a career-high 11 kills while
Sydney Reese added 10 kills to go along with two blocks and a dig.
Tessa Treanor posted a career-best 15 digs and setter
Marley Roe led the charge with 22 assists.
GLANCE AT THE ABILENE CHRISTIAN WILDCATS
Abilene Christian is 8-13 on the season and sits in a three-way tie for fourth in the WAC with a 2-4 mark in WAC along with UT Arlington and California Baptist.
The Wildcats are 1-5 on the road this season with their lone win coming on Oct. 4 at UT Arlington in four sets.
ACU, who earned its other WAC win at home over Southern Utah in five sets, leads the WAC in kills (1,022), assists (935) & total attacks (2,734) while ranking second in aces per set (1.79), assists per set (11.69), kills per set (12.78), service aces (143), digs (1,073) and attacks per set (34.18).
Junior setter Rachel Koss leads the WAC with 668 assists & second in assists per set (8.35).
Redshirt freshman libero Brennan Ramirez is second in digs (313) and third in digs per set (3.91).Â
SERIES HISTORY VS. ABILENE CHRISTIAN
The Trailblazers lead the overall series over Abilene Christian, 5-2.
Utah Tech is 2-0 at home over Abilene Christian with sweeps over the Wildcats in 2024 and 2022.
The Trailblazers hold a 3-1 advantage on the road while the teams met once as Division II opponents in 2008 with ACU sweeping then-Dixie State in Durango, Colo.
GLANCE AT THE UTAH VALLEY WOLVERINES
Utah Valley is 9-9 on the season and tied with the Trailblazers for first in the WAC.
The Wolverines, who have won three straight matches since falling to UT in St. George on Oct. 4, are 4-4 in "home" matches with this being their first match at Lockhart Arena since Sept. 20 after their last three home contests were played away from their home arena due to facility upgrades.Â
The Wolverines lead the WAC and nation in blocks (227.0) & blocks per set (3.39). UVU is second in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.167) and third in aces per set (1.54), hitting percentage (.202), kills per set (12.30) & service aces (103).
Senior middle blocker Bella Wooden tops the country in blocks (130) and is second nationally in blocks per set (1.94).
Sophomore outside hitter Sami Blackett is second in the WAC in attacks per set (9.75) and leads the team with 224 kills.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UTAH VALLEY
The Trailblazers trail the all-time series against Utah Valley, 9-3.Â
Utah Tech has won the last three meetings against the Wolverines and is 1-4 on the road in Orem sweeping UVU last season.
The Trailblazers are 2-5 against the Wolverines at home with wins in their last two matchups against UVU at Burns Arena with a four-set win this season and a five-set win last season.
BLOCKS
The Trailblazers have notched 15 matches with more blocks than their opponents this season and are 13-2 when leading holding an advantage in blocks.
The only two matches the Trailblazers have had more blocks and taken losses came against Iowa (Aug. 30) and at UT Arlington (Oct. 18).
WHERE UTAH TECH RANKS IN THE WAC IN 2025
As a team, the Trailblazers lead the WAC in assists per set (12.05), hitting percentage (.226), kills per set (13.31), attacks per set (35.62), opponent hitting percentage (.155 - 10th nationally) & digs per set (14.48).Â
UT ranks second in blocks per set (2.78 - 15th nationally) & total blocks (181.0 - 42nd nationally) and checks in third in assists (783), kills (865) and total attacks (2,315).
Taylor Snow ranks third in the WAC in blocks per set (1.30) & blocks (82) while Casidy Fried is fifth in blocks (79) and blocks per set (1.22). Fried leads the WAC in hitting percentage (.349) which is on pace to be the program's single season record.
Mya Laufiso ranks fourth in the WAC in total digs (238).
FRIED & SNOW CLIMBING THE CAREER BLOCK CHARTS
Both Fried and Snow continue to climb the career block charts as Fried enters Saturday seventh all-time with 221.0 blocks and Snow sits eighth with 211.0 blocks.
Snow is fifth in solo blocks (36) while Fried is sixth with 31. Fried is seventh all-time in block assists (190) and Snow ranks 10th (175).
HITTING 1K
Junior setter Marley Roe became the eight Trailblazer in the NCAA era to hit the 1,000-career assist mark in a sweep over San Francisco on Sept. 13.
She has recorded 1,196 career assists in 68 career matches and currently ranks sixth in program history.
RPI RANKINGS
The Trailblazers enter action on Tuesday (Oct. 21) as the top-ranked team from the WAC in the RPI checking in at 102.
The remaining WAC programs see Utah Valley (163), Tarleton State (242), UT Arlington (251), Abilene Christian (275), California Baptist (276) and Southern Utah (317).
SWEEPS ON SWEEPS
The Trailblazers have already matched their sweep total from 2024 after completing their ninth sweep of the season at Abilene Christian last Saturday.
It is tied for the fourth-most sweeps in a season as the Trailblazers notched 13 in both 2016 & 2018 and a record 14 in 2011.
TRAILBLAZERS SEE WINNING STREAK COME TO A HALT
The Trailblazers saw their winning streak come to and end at six matches at UT Arlington last Saturday.Â
It was the Trailblazers longest winning streak since 2019 when they won seven straight. It is the ninth time in UT's 20 seasons of the NCAA era they have won six or more matches.

OFF TO A HOT WAC START
The Trailblazers closed out the first half of WAC play last Saturday at UT Arlington with a 5-1 mark. It is Utah Tech's best start to conference play since opening RMAC play 6-0 in 2018.
WINS PILING UP
Entering action on Tuesday (Oct. 21), 60 Division I teams have posted 14 or more wins this season.
Towson, Xavier, UTEP and Nebraska lead the nation with 18 victories.
STELLAR START
Off to a 14-4 start to the season, the Trailblazers have matched the 2018 team as the best start to a season after 18 matches.
HOME COOKING
The Trailblazers are off to only its second-ever 5-0 home start joining 2014.
ON THE ROAD
Since joining the NCAA ranks in 2006, Utah Tech has recorded a 106-109 (.491) record in true-road matches and has logged a winning record on the road nine times (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019).
Additionally, the Trailblazers have posted a 48-54 (.471) record in neutral-site contests.
The Trailblazers' five road wins are their most in the Division I era and most since 2019 (6).
