(Stephenville, Texas - Oct. 9, 2025) - The Trailblazer volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches on Thursday night defeating Tarleton State in four sets at Wisdom Gym.
Utah Tech (13-3, 4-0 WAC) took the opening set, 25-22, dropped the second set before taking the match with 25-22 & 25-16 set wins in the third & fourth sets.
Led by a trio of Trailblazers with double figures in kills, UT was paced by a season-high 14 kills from
Sydney Reese while hitting a career-high .636 followed by 11 by
Taylor Snow and 10 via
Tessa Treanor.
Marley Roe led the charge with 25 assists and tallied a double-double tying for the team lead with 11 digs.
Defensively,
Casidy Fried led the team with six blocks as the Trailblazers got blocks from seven different players.
How It Happened
Getting off to a strong start, the Trailblazers won the opening set getting out to a quick 12-10 led and built it to three (15-12) after an ace by Roe at the media timeout.
A 3-0 run extended UT's lead to 19-14 after blocks by Fried and Snow, but a 7-3 run for the Texans brought Tarleton back within a point (22-21).
After trading points, the Trailblazers notched the final two points of the set with a block and attack error.
Falling behind 15-9 in the second set, the Texans went on to take the set by eight points to even the match at one set apiece.
TSU jumped ahead 8-6 in the third set, but a 6-0 run for the Trailblazers pushed UT in front, 12-8.
Four straight points for the Texans locked up the set at 12 and after continuing to go back and forth, a 4-0 run for the Trailblazers put UT ahead, 22-19. An attack error, service ace and kill by
Nana Asiata sealed a third set victory.
Back-to-back kills by Snow in the fourth set pushed the Trailblazers ahead, 15-10 and kills by Treanor & Reese kept UT ahead 22-16.
The final three points of the set went to UT with a pair of attack errors and a kill by Snow signaled match point for the four-set win.
How It Happened
- The Trailblazers led the match in hitting percentage (.255-.167), kills (52-51), blocks (13-6), digs (54-53) and assists (49-47).
- Utah Tech leads the all-time series over Tarleton State, 6-3 and have won three straight matches over the Texans.
- It is the first time in the UT's six seasons in the WAC they have started conference play with a 4-0 mark.
- It was Roe's seventh double-double of the season.
