(Arlington, Texas - Oct. 18, 2025) - The Trailblazer volleyball team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon falling in four sets to UT Arlington at the College Park Center.
Utah Tech (14-4, 5-1 WAC) was able to tie up the match at one set apiece with a second set win, 25-17, but UT Arlington (10-8, 2-4 WAC) was able to win the match with wins in the opening set, 25-14 and took the final two sets, 28-26 & 25-22.
Led by a career-high 11 kills from
Casidy Fried, the Trailblazers also got double figure kills from
Sydney Reese, who finished with 10 to go along with two blocks and a dig.
Junior outside hitter
Tessa Treanor tallied a career-best 15 digs and
Mya Laufiso also added 15 digs while setter
Marley Roe led the way with 22 assists.
UTA led the match in kills (53-48), service aces (6-5), assists (50-43) & hitting percentage (.180-.163) while the Trailblazers led in blocks (12-11) & digs (71-67).
How It Happened
With the Mavericks taking control of the opening set from the outset, UTA led 16-6 and after the Trailblazers closed to within five (19-14) after a block by
Taylor Snow, the Mavs scored the final six points of the set to take the set in convincing fashion.
The Trailblazers jumped out to a 9-7 lead in the second set and used a 5-0 run to go ahead, 14-7 after a kill by Fried. Blocks by Snow and
Emery Harrison gave UT a double digit lead at 20-10 and the set was capped off by a UTA attack error for a 25-17 set win.
Looking to take a two-to-one set lead, the Trailblazers led early in the third set, 7-5 and pushed their lead to as many as 22-19 after a kill by
Lusia Langi.
Unfortunately, four straight points for UTA pushed the Mavs ahead by one (23-22) and after ties at 23, 24, 25 & 26, the final two points of the set went to the Mavs with a kill & attack error to win a wild third set.
Again taking a lead in the fourth set, the Trailblazers led 11-9 and they continued to lead 18-17 on a kill by Reese.
That was the final lead for the Blazers as UT was able to nab ties at 19, 20 & 21 before the Mavs scored four of the final five points of the set to secure the win.
