Box Score (Provo, Utah - January 16, 2025) - Utah Tech women's tennis opened the 2025 spring season, falling 6-1 to BYU at the Cougars' Indoor Tennis Courts on Thursday evening. 

Sophomore Ana Gutierrez Sampere battled tough in the number two singles spot, winning the second set 7-6 before dropping the tie-breaker 1-0.

In the second doubles match, Gutierrez Sampere and sophomore Olivia Bustos forced an extra game before the Cougar pair of Sue Yan Tan and Elizabeth Tullis pulled away 7-6.

Utah Tech earned a point at the number six singles spot as junior Raquel Roshak won by forfeit after BYU's Madison Smith bowed out with the match in hand.

Freshman Maya Inouye gave Tullis a challenge at the number four singles spot, extending each set before falling 6-3 and 6-4.

UT won the third match of doubles play by forfeit.

The Trailblazers return to action tomorrow with a neutral-site contest against Montana State at 4 p.m. inside the George S. Eccles Tennis Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
