Outdoor Performance List - Top 25 in WAC
The Trailblazers have seven top 10 mark in the WAC entering the WAC Outdoor Championships highlighted by
Ashlyn Parish in the 100m hurdles with the fourth-fastest mark while
Megan Jenkins has clocked the fifth-fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles.
LOOK BACK AT THE 2023 WAC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Wyatt finished fourth in the 800 meters at the 2023 WAC Outdoor Championships in a program record time of 2:10.76 to score five team points.
The Trailblazers finished 12th as a team with New Mexico State winning the title scoring 136 points.
Stephen F. Austin (113), Grand Canyon (98), Utah Valley (84.5) and UT Arlington (79) rounded out the top five teams.
LAST TIME OUT
In their last time competing at the BYU Robison Invitational on April 26-27, Utah Tech was led by a program record time in the 400 meter hurdles by
Megan Jenkins, who finished fourth in the finals on Friday, with a time of 1:01.68. Jenkins trimmed off 0.06 seconds of her previous program top time set earlier this season at the Utah Tech Invitational.
Other top finishes in the meet came from
Rashawnna Gibson in the 100 meters (3rd, 11.82),
Whitney Christiansen in the 400 meters (4th, 57.34),
Lexi Larsen in the mile (7th, 5:00.17) and Jenkins in the 100 meter hurdles (7th, 14.12).
BLAZERS SET THREE PROGRAM RECORDS AT SUU COLISEUM CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Trailblazers set three program records at the Southern Utah Coliseum Championships on April 20.
Rashawnna Gibson led the charge setting both the 100 and 200 meter records winning the 100 meters in a speedy time of 11.77 and took fourth in the 200 meters clocking a time of 24.53.
The final record was set by freshman
Whitney Christiansen in the 400 meters as she topped her previous by 0.42 seconds clocking a time of 56.61.
15 TRAILBLAZERS NAMED WINTER ACADEMIC ALL-WAC SELECTIONS
Utah Tech had 15 Trailblazers earn Winter Academic All-WAC honors for completing at least one academic year, having at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and participating in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.

RETURNERS
Utah Tech brings back 22 returners this season with 10 sophomores and 12 juniors.
Junior
Addi Wyatt is back as a mid-distance runner after earning All-WAC honors in the 800 meters in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2023.
NEWCOMERS
The Trailblazers welcome 18 newcomers to the team this season with six distance runners, eight sprinters, two sprinters/hurdlers, one hurdler and one jumper/sprinter.
HEAD COACH DERRICK ATKINS
Head coach
Derrick Atkins is in his fourth season as the head coach of the track and field team in 2024.
With his guidance, the Trailblazers have achieved significant success setting 16 school records in outdoor events and 12 in indoor events, with 10 of those records being set in the 2023 season alone.
Not only has the team excelled athletically, but they have also excelled academically. They have earned 35 Indoor Academic All-Conference honors and 45 Academic All-Conference honors outdoor.
