(Fayetteville, AR - May 28, 2026) – Utah Tech women's track & field will be represented at the NCAA West First Rounds by Averie Perriton in the 3000 meter steeplechase on Saturday, May 30.

The 3000m steeplechase will commence at approximately 5:40pm CST / 4:40pm PST, and Perriton will run in the 3rd heat. 

Averie will make Utah Tech D-1 history as this will mark the first time the Trailblazers will be competing in any NCAA Championship event across all sports. 

Perriton has had a strong outdoor season for the Trailblazers, including five top-3 finishes in the 3000m steeplechase. Her qualifying time of 10:22.33 came at the APU Franson Last Chance back on May 9, where she won the event.

The junior from Wyoming has had seven top-3 finishes across all events she's competed in this outdoor season, including three event wins and a 2nd place finish in the 3000m steeplechase at the WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this month.

If Perriton can finish in the top-12 this weekend, she will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
