Utah Tech women's tennis closed out play at the 2024 WAC Women's Tennis Invitational at John T.L. Jones Tennis Center on Friday. The Trailblazers went 1-3 in their matches with sophomore
Mariana Zurita earning a big win over No. 7 seed Masha Vrsalovic from Abilene Christian in the women's singles first round.
Zurita advanced from the first round with a three-set victory 7-5 (6-2), before falling to No. 2 Ana Paula Jimenez of UT Arlington in the quarterfinals.Â
Sophomore
Ana Gutierrez Sampere joined Zurita for the women's doubles quarterfinals. The UT pair was bested in two sets by No. 3 Seattle U, comprised of Lamija Avdic and Liliya Dimova.
Gutierrez Sampere also came up short in her singles matchup with No. 6 Dania Deaifi of GCU.Â
The Trailblazers return to action on Friday, Nov. 8 at the UNLV Watanabe Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
