Utah Tech opened the 2023 spring season with an 11
th-place finish at the Cal State Bakersfield Valley Invitational, which was played on Monday and Tuesday at the Bakersfield Country Club. 
The Trailblazers opened play with a 29-over par 317 on Monday's morning round, though the team was eight shots better on their afternoon loop, posting a 21-over 309 to finish day one in 11th place. However Utah Tech could not gain any ground during Tuesday's final loop, finishing with a 27-over 315 to wind up at plus-77 941. 
 
Senior 
Abby Livingston (77-79-76) was the top Trailblazer on the player leaderboard in solo 31
st-place at plus-16 232, which included a final round 4-over 76. Freshman 
Brooke Gelinas (82-74-79), who fired UT's low round of the event with a 2-over 74 in round two, joined two others tied for 40
th at plus-19 235.
 
Fellow freshman 
Corinne Lillywhite (80-77-79) finished in a pack of seven players tied for 43
rd at plus-20 236. Lillywhite also recorded one of the four eagles that were carded in the event, doing so on the par-4 third hole in round two on Monday. 
Senior 
Grace Williams (78-79-81) followed in t-50
th place at plus-22 238, and freshman 
Jane Olson (82-81-82) tied for 66
th at plus-29 245. 
 
Utah Tech will return home to host its first-ever Division I event, the Utah Tech Zupas Trailblazer Invitational, which will be played at Green Springs Golf Course in Washington next Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 13-14.
