Samantha Phelan was named Western Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week on Thursday for her performance at the Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic earlier this week.
Phelan (5-10; Henderson, Nev./Liberty HS) finished in a three-way for runner-up honors and helped lead a Utah Tech rally for a third place team showing.
After opening with a 2-over 74 on Monday, the junior fired a bogey free 3-under 69 in round two on Tuesday to vault 18 spots up the player leaderboard into a tie for sixth.
Phelan, who penciled in nine total birdies over the three days, followed that up with a 1-under 71 on Wednesday to join two others tied for second place at minus-2 214.
Phelan's runner-up showing was her collegiate-best finish, while it was her sixth career top-five and her ninth career top-10 finish overall.
Utah Tech will now set its sights on the program's first conference title as the Trailblazers travel to "The Lone Star State" for the 2026, and final, WAC Women's Golf Championships.
The three-day, 54-hole championship tournament will be held next Monday-through-Wednesday, April 20-22, at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
