Utah Tech heads to "The Lone Star State" in search of its first-ever conference title when the Trailblazers tee it up at the 2026, and final, Western Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships.

The three-day, 54-hole championship tournament will be held this upcoming Monday-through-Wednesday at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch Hills Course in McKinney, Texas.

The five player lineup for the Trailblazers will feature senior Jane Olson, juniors Mia Cesarek and Samantha Phelan, sophomore Maria Purroy Galan, and redshirt freshman Gabrielle Roznicki. In addition, senior Jenna Anderson will travel as a first alternate.

GOING "BIG" IN 2026: This past June 25, Utah Tech announced that it had accepted an invitation to join the Big Sky Conference beginning on July 1, 2026.
Starting in the 2026-27 season, 14 of the Trailblazers' 17 sports, including women's golf, will compete under the Big Sky Conference banner.

HEAD COACH LINDSEY ORTH: Lindsey Orth (Utah Tech, 2007) is in her 10th season as head coach of the Trailblazer women's golf program.
Last season, Coach Orth finished its fifth season of NCAA Division I play with four top-5 showings in nine team events, highlighted by a t-second place finish at the Utah Valley Wigwam Preview in February (2/2-4/25), and a seventh-place showing at the 2025 WAC Championships.
Prior to her arrival at Utah Tech, she served as assistant golf professional at the Sand Hollow Golf Resort, and as an LPGA assistant teaching professional for the City of St. George. Orth also spent two seasons on the coaching staff of the Hurricane High School girl's golf program, including a one-year stint as the Tigers' head coach in the 2010-11 season.
Coach Orth, who is an apprentice member of the LPGA T&CP, played collegiately at the University of Central Arkansas, where she helped lead the Bears to six-consecutive team tournament wins and a Gulf South Conference championship.

PHELAN STRONG WEEK LANDS WAC WEEKLY HONOR: Phelan was named WAC Player of the Week this past Thursday for her performance at last week's Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic.
The junior finished in a three-way for runner-up honors and helped lead a Utah Tech rally for a third place team showing.
After opening with a 2-over 74, Phelan fired a bogey free 3-under 69 in round two to vault 18 spots up the player leaderboard into a tie for sixth.
Phelan, who penciled in nine total birdies over the three days, followed that up with a final round 1-under 71 to join two others tied for second place at minus-2 214.
Phelan's runner-up showing was her collegiate-best finish, while it was her sixth career top-five and her ninth career top-10 finish overall.

TRAILBLAZERS AT A GLANCE: Through nine events this season, Purroy Galan leads the team in stroke average at 74.36 through 25 rounds with a team-best nine par or better rounds and one top-10.
Phelan is second at 74.73 with seveb par or better rounds and a team-high four top-10s, while Cesarek checks in in third at 75.19 with four par or better rounds.
Roznicki follows in fifth at 76.90 with a pair of par or better rounds, and Olson is sixth at 76.91 with one par or better round through 23 competitive loops.

NEXT UP FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS: The winner of the 2026 WAC Women's Golf Championship will earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals, which will be held May 11-13 at a site to be announced at a later date.
