The Utah Tech women's track and field team continues its indoor season on Friday with the Northern Arizona Lumberjack Team Challenge at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, Arizona.
The Trailblazers will compete in 10 different events at the Lumberjack Team Challenge, including nine running events and one field events.
UTAH TECH COMPETITORS: The Trailblazers will open the meet with one field event.
Lainee Leavitt,
Morgan Callens and
Kylie Bishop will compete in the high jump.
Up next the Trailblazers will have four competitors in the 60m. Mary Fallon, Ashlynn Gilhula, Abigail Yadon and Rashawnna Gibson. Fallon, Gilhula and Yadon will compete again in the 200m, joined additionally by Ashlyn Parish and Alaynah Reed.
Emma Lloyd and Megan Jenkins will compete in the 400m with Reed as well.
Two Trailblazers will race the 600m, Madelynne Crawford and Kelly Denninghoff. Then an event-high six Trailblazers will run in the 800m. Savannah Eatough, Sadie Edwards, Camilla Hamilton, Addi Wyatt, Alexia Corona and Shakayla Morgan will race the 800.
Utah Tech will have five runners in the mile run. Lexi Larsen, Shakayla Morgan, Brooklyn Smith, Kirstin Williams and Mariah Skinner will race there. Skinner, Smith and Williams will also race in the 3000m.
The Trailblazers will also have four competitors, Crawford, Jenkins, Lloyd and Parish race in the 60m hurdles.
To round out the day the Trailblazers will race three relay teams.
LAST TIME OUT: Utah Tech competed in its season-opener at BYU last weekend. The team had school record-breaking performances all around and had a solid start to the 2023 campaign.
2023 ROSTER: Utah Tech enters the 2022 Indoor Season with 29 student-athletes on the roster, including 12 freshmen, 13 sophomores, and three juniors and one senior, with athletic eligibility based on the 2020-21 COVID-19 blanket waiver for an extra year of eligibility.
COACHING STAFF: Derrick Atkins begins his third season as head coach at Utah Tech, and is joined by assistants
Justin Decker (Distance),
Elizabeth Cook (Distance), and
Ross Decker as a volunteer assistant.
UP NEXT: Utah Tech will return to Flagstaff on Feb. 3 for the Ron Mann Classic. This will be the Trailblazers final tune-up before the 2023 WAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 24 in Spokane, WA.
