Holly Haguewood Joins Utah Tech Track & Field Coaching Staff

(St. George - Aug. 20, 2025) – Utah Tech Athletics announced on Wednesday the addition of sprints/hurdles coach Holly Haguewood to its track & field coaching staff on Wednesday. Haguewood has been a staple in the Utah track & field community for over 20 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Trailblazers.

"Coach Haguewood's reputation speaks for itself," said Ken Beazer, Utah Tech's Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "She is one of the most respected and accomplished coaches throughout the region, with a proven track record of recognizing and developing elite talent. We're excited for the impact she'll have on our student-athletes and our track & field program."

Haguewood joins UT after being named Utah Class 4A Coach of the Year at Crimson Cliffs High School in the St. George area. She led the Mustangs boys' and girls' teams to top-10 finishes at the 4A state championships, crowning Eli Connelly as state champion in the long jump and high jump. The Mustangs also claimed three individual Region 9 titles, while the girls' team finished second and the boys' team came in third.

"I feel extremely grateful and honored to be given the opportunity to work with these student-athletes and help grow the track & field program," Haguewood said. "I'm beyond excited and also very sad to be leaving my kids at Crimson Cliffs."

The owner of the Southern Utah Track Club, Haguewood, has been training athletes in Washington County for five years, helping numerous high schoolers reach personal records, podium finishes and state titles.

A collegiate athlete at BYU, Haguewood was a four-time All-American in the 400 meters, 800 meters and Distance Medley Relay. She was an eight-time conference champion in the 400-meter hurdles, 800 meters, 4x400-meter relay, 4x100-meter relay and DMR, while competing in the Western Athletic Conference and Mountain West Conference. Haguewood also qualified for and competed in the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in the 400-meter hurdles for the 2000 Sydney Games. She was also an Academic All-American and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Haguewood excelled in her prep career, winning nine state titles and being named Athlete of the Year twice, once in 3A and once in 4A. Haguewood also set the Utah high school record in the 100 and 200 meters and was a national champion in the heptathlon.

Utah Tech track & field is set to compete in its 10th outdoor season, sixth in Division I, this academic year.
