Trailblazer tennis stopped by Bengals Saturday afternoon

Box Score Dixie State women's tennis lost its match against Idaho State 0-7 Sunday afternoon.

DSU started off the day earning their first doubles win of the season in the No. 1 spot. Rachel Mellor and Juliana Honzaruk played the Bengals to a 6-3 win. The Tigers won the other two doubles matches and took the doubles point for the day, but the Blazers had a strong start in the afternoon.

The Blazers were unable to find a singles win, but there were some great individual performances throughout.

Alysha Damron won her first set 7-6 and forced a tiebreaker to decide the match. She lost the tiebreaker but had a hard fought battle throughout, only losing set two 4-6.

Coming off her singles win the day before versus Weber State, Ya-Chi Hsu was fighting for another. Hsu ended up losing the second set tiebreaker, but she fought hard to stay in it until the end.

Additionally, Jane Dorny played in her first doubles match as a Trailblazer. The freshman saw a 6-1 loss alongside partner Sabrina Lonhson.

Dixie State is now 0-4 in the 2022 season. The next matches on the docket for DSU are on Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. versus Boise State and Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. vs BYU. The Blazers will then have their first home competition of the season against Utah State on Feb. 11 at 11 a.m.
