Box Score The Dixie State women's tennis team dropped their senior day match Saturday afternoon, falling 6-1 to Weber State.
Weber State (9-4) started the day off strong by sweeping the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
Juliana Honczaruk and
Rachel Mellor came closest to a win, playing to a 4-6 loss in No. 2 doubles.
The Wildcats kept their strong play up heading into singles play, claiming two quick points from the Trailblazers. Dixie State (4-13, 2-2 WAC) then got a point from their lone senior,
Kyra Harames in No. 1 singles. Harames played to a 6-2 win in the first set, and a 6-4 win in the second set to clinch the only point of the day for the Blazers. Mellor and Honczaruk also played well but came up short in their singles matches, both falling in three sets.
"The girls played a strong match today, pushing Weber with their strong effort and fighting spirit," said Head Coach
Eric Pelton.
The Trailblazers will head to Las Cruces, New Mexico on April 16 for two conferences matches against Tarleton State and UT Rio Grande Valley to close out their first Division I season.
