Women's Tennis falls to UNLV, 7-0

Box Score The Trailblazer women's tennis team dropped their road match Wednesday night, falling 7-0 to UNLV.

Dixie State (2-10) started the day off by taking a doubles match from the Rebels, as Juliana Honczaruk and Rachel Mellor played to a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. UNLV (4-4) however would claim the other two doubles matches in demanding fashion, winning both 6-1 to gain the first point of the evening.

The Rebels kept their strong play up heading into singles play, quickly claiming four points to clinch the match. The Trailblazers continued to battle though, Mellor, who competed in No. 4 singles played her first match to a close 5-7 loss. She was then unable to piece together a come back losing the second set, 6-1. Honczaruk also played a close match in No. 6 singles, dropping both of her sets 6-3. This ended the night for Dixie State. 

"We played well," said head coach Eric Pelton. "We were competitive against a very good [UNLV] team."

Dixie State is 2-10 thus far into their first Division I season. The Trailblazers will be back in action Thursday, March 25 for a home rematch with the University of Utah. The match is slated for a 2:30 p.m. start time at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts in St. George.
