The Dixie State women's tennis team travels to Flagstaff, Ariz. this weekend to officially open its 2021 season.

The Trailblazers look to pick up where they left off last season, finishing 6-3 before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. The Trailblazers will take on Northern Arizona University in a double-header on Saturday. DSU will start the day at 9 a.m., and finish with a match at 2 p.m.

DIVISON 1 / WAC: The Trailblazers begin their first season in the WAC since DSU's jump to Division 1 last year. They will open their WAC schedule on March 19 in St. George against Grand Canyon University. DSU also has matches scheduled against Pac-12 schools Arizona and Utah. 2021

ROSTER: Dixie State returns five players from the 2019-20 squad, including redshirt senior Kyra Harames, juniors Juliana Honczaruk and Sabrina Longson, and sophomores Katelyn Longson and Emma Templeman. Harames, coming off a first team All-RMAC 2018-19 honors, logged a 4-4 record in singles play and a 4-4 mark in doubles play. Honczaruk had a productive sophomore season finishing with a 7-1 record in singles play and a 3-5 mark in doubles play. Sabrina Longson finished her season off undefeated in singles play at 3-0 and 2-1 in doubles play. Katelyn Longson finished 3-5 in singles play and 3-3 in doubles play. Templeman had an effective freshman season finishing 6-3 in singles play and 6-2 in doubles play. Three new freshmen join the team for the 2020-21 season, including Alysha Damron, Ya-Chi Hsu, and Rachel Mellor.

COACHING STAFF: Eric Pelton begins his 15th season as the DSU women's tennis head coach. Pelton has been with the program since the sport was added for the 2006-07 season. Pelton is joined again by his assistant, Steve Bui (5th Season).

UP NEXT: Dixie State will visit Provo, Utah January 29 and January 30 to take on Utah State and BYU.
