Women’s Tennis falls to Stanislaus State Thursday, 6-3

The Dixie State women's tennis team dropped a hard fought match to Stanislaus State on Thursday, falling 6-3 to the Warriors in Turlock, Calif.

The Trailblazers (8-6) trailed 2-1 after doubles play, as Maria Kana Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) and Kaylee Milligan (Silver City, N.M./Silver HS) earned DSU's lone doubles point with an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Milligan also took a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles to remain undefeated on the day, while Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, Utah/East HS) rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles. Kyra Harames (Spokane, Wash./Central Valley HS) and Frances Hina Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) each saw the first set in singles play go to a tiebreaker. Both players fell short in the tiebreakers, and both eventually dropped their singles matches, as Harames fell 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and Hina Goldsmith dropped a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 decision at No. 4 singles.

Dixie State will close its northern California trip on Friday at Sonoma State in Rohnert Park, California.
