Women’s Tennis falls at Holy Names Sunday, 6-3

Dixie State women's tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to Holy Names on Sunday at the Meyer Tennis Courts on the campus of Mills College in Oakland, California.  

The Trailblazers (7-4) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) and Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, Utah/East HS) battled to an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Kyra Harames (Spokane, Wash./Central Valley HS) and Frances Hina Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) cruised to an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

Holy Names responded during singles play, taking five of the six singles matches. Hina Goldsmith rallied for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles, marking the lone singles win of the day for the Trailblazers. With the triumph at No. 5 singles, Goldsmith remains undefeated in both singles and doubles play through the first two games of DSU's northern California trip.

Dixie State continues the trip vs. Mills College on Monday at 3 p.m. Pacific Time (4 p.m. MT).
