Women’s Tennis ends season with loss to Stanislaus State

The Dixie State women's tennis team closed the 2015-16 season on Thursday with a 6-0 consolation-match loss to Stanislaus State at the PacWest Championships in Surprise, Arizona.

The Trailblazers battled in doubles play, but Stanislaus edged DSU in each doubles match to grab an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore Karolin Kukaras (Heidelberg, Germany/Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg) and freshman Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) came closest to a point, falling 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.

The Warriors clinched the match with two victories in singles play, as juniors Samantha Yacano (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West HS) and Kaylee Tarver (Wrightwood, Calif./Serrano HS) fell at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. With a 5-0 lead the Warriors had the match clinched, but Hancock fell at No. 2 singles before the match could be halted, giving Stanislaus a 6-0 win.

DSU ends the season with a 5-13 overall record, having earned wins over Colorado Christian, Colorado State-Pueblo, Mills College (2), and Notre Dame de Namur.
