Women’s Tennis drops rain-shortened match to Dominican

The Dixie State women's tennis team fell, 6-1, to Dominican on Tuesday in San Rafael, California, completing a rain-shortened match started on Sunday.

The Red Storm (4-10) began the day trailing 2-1 after doubles play, as Karolin Kukaras (Heidelberg, Germany/Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg) and Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles on Sunday. Dominican swept through singles play on Tuesday, picking up wins at the No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots to clinch the match without completing the No. 1 and 6 singles matches. Kukaras led 5-4 in the first set at No. 1 singles when the match was called.

Dixie State closes its five-match Northern California trip on Wednesday with matches vs. Notre Dame de Namur (originally scheduled for Monday) at 11 a.m. Mountain Time and Holy Names at 1:30 p.m. MT.
