Women's Tennis falls at Stanislaus State

The Dixie State women's tennis team opened the spring portion of the 2015-16 season Saturday with an 8-1 loss at Stanislaus State in Turlock, California.

Freshman Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) earned the only victory of the day for the Red Storm at No. 2 singles. Hancock dropped the first set 2-6, but answered with 6-2 win in the second set and 10-7 in the 10-point tiebreaker.

Sophomore Karolin Kukaras (Heidelberg, Germany/Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg) followed the same pattern, losing the first set and winning the second, but fell in the 10-point tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.

Kukuras and junior Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, Utah/East HS) started strong at No. 1 doubles, but couldn't close out the match and fell 8-6.

The Red Storm return to action on Sunday with matches at Academy of Art and Mills College.
