Women's Tennis earns Sunday split in California

The Dixie State women's tennis team played to a split of its two matches in California on Sunday.

The Red Storm started the day at Mills College in Oakland, cruising to a 9-0 victory.  Freshman Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) earned her second consecutive victory at No. 2 singles, winning in 6-1, 6-0 in straight sets. Sophomore Karolin Kukaras (Heidelberg, Germany/Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg) earned her first spring victory at No. 1 singles with 6-1, 6-0 win.

Kukaras and junior Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, Utah/East HS) rolled to an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Hancock and freshman Jenna Fosdick (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon HS) won at No. 2 doubles by the same the score.

Dixie State finished the day in San Francisco at Academy of Art, falling 8-1 to the Urban Knights. Kukaras earned the lone victory of the match for DSU, defeating Paula Alcantara 7-6, 7-6 at No. 1 singles.

The Storm wrap up its three-day California swing on Monday at Sonoma State in Rohnert Park.
