Dixie State closed out the fall dual portion of its 2016-17 schedule with a 9-0 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday morning in Grand Junction, Colo. With the win, the Trailblazers clinched a sweep of all four dual matches they played against RMAC schools over the past three days, which also marked the first time in DSU's NCAA-era that the program had started its dual match season at 4-0.

Dixie State swept all three doubles matches to open the match, with senior Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, Utah/East HS) and freshman Maria Kana Goldsmith (Honolulu, Hawaii/Myron B. Thompson Academy) finishing with a 4-0 record at No. 3 doubles for the weekend. The Trailblazers then won all six singles matches, including five in straight sets. Sophomore Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) ran her singles record to 4-0 with a win a straight-set win at No. 1 singles Saturday, while junior Alex Makashov (Toronto, Canada/King City Secondary School) and freshman Kyra Harames (Spokane, Wash./Central Valley HS) each finished the trip at 4-0 in singles play with wins vs. CSUP at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

"It was a great weekend packed with some amazing tennis and big wins," DSU Head Coach Eric Pelton said. "This is the best start to a year in Dixie State tennis history! I was extremely impressed with the level of play and our ability to fight for every point."

Dixie State will open the 2017 spring dual match season this February.
