The Dixie State women's basketball team returns to action Tuesday when Chaminade invades the Burns Arena, and the Storm look to even their Pacific West Conference record.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. as the Storm look to halt a two-game losing streak after defeating Point Loma on December 5. Live coverage is scheduled on television (TDS Cable Channel 22), radio (X 91.3 FM), and Internet (SouthernUtahLive.com), with Keric Seegmiller providing play-by-play.

THE DOUBLE-DOUBLE STREAK CONTINUES: Senior center Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, Utah/Emery) recorded her fourth consecutive double-double December 19 vs. Azusa Pacific, finishing with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She now has six double-doubles on the season and 28 career double-doubles (23 at Dixie State, 5 at BYU-Hawaii). Mann's six double-doubles are tied for the second-most in the PacWest and ties for 16th nationally this season.

ALL-TIME VS. CHAMINADE: Tuesday's game marks the 18th meeting between Dixie State and Chaminade. The teams first met on Jan. 9, 2007 in Honolulu with the Storm winning the inaugural matchup, 75-39. The victory sparked a 16-game win streak in the series for DSU over the next eight years. The Silverswords snapped the winning streak last season, earning its first victory (78-74) in the series at the Burns Arena on Feb. 12, 2015. The Storm hold a 16-1 series lead, including a 7-1 mark at home.

KNOW YOUR FOE: Chaminade enters the game with a 3-5 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the PacWest. The Silverswords defeated Concordia, Holy Names, and Hawaii Hilo in consecutive games for their best PacWest start in program history. CUH is led by junior forwards Lilia Maio (14.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and Courtney Kaupu (11.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg), and junior guard Kristle Henry (10.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg).

"We're excited to get back on the court," head coach Jenny Thigpin said. "We've had a good week of practice. The team is excited to get back into league play and is looking forward to making a statement."

LAST TIME OUT: The Storm dropped their PacWest home opener, 93-69, to No. 25 APU on Saturday, Dec. 19.

The Storm started strong, taking a 14-11 lead midway through the first period behind seven points from sophomore center Ashlee Burge (Riverton, Utah/Herriman). Dixie State had a chance to build on the lead, but a missed jumper and a turnover led to an APU 3-pointer to tie the game at 14-14 and spark an 8-0 run for the Cougars. Junior guard Tomorie Sangster (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood ) responded with a trey from the left corner, but another DSU turnover and a fast break layup for APU put the Cougars ahead at 21-17 at the end of the quarter.

Dixie State stayed close with the Cougars in the second quarter, pulling to within 29-25 on a 3-pointer from senior guard Chermayne Moore (Pinole, Calif./Hercules) with 6:29 remaining in the first half. Like the first quarter, APU responded with an 8-0 run to push the lead to 37-25. The teams traded baskets until halftime, and APU took a 48-38 lead into the break.

The Cougars raced to a 20-point lead in the third quarter behind a 15-5 run to start the period. The Storm responded with a 7-2 run on another Moore 3-pointer and baskets by Burge and senior guard Leslie Tademy (Phoenix, Ariz./South Mountain), but APU pushed the lead back to 73-54 to end the third quarter.

DSU cut the lead back to 15 points at 75-60 in the fourth quarter, but APU again responded, this time with a 12-0 run to put the game out of reach. Like the end of the first half, the teams traded baskets until the game ended at 93-69 in favor of the Cougars.

Dixie State shot 35 percent (24-of-68) from the field, 25 percent (5-of-20) from beyond the arc, and 88 percent (16-of-18) from the free throw line. Moore led three Storm players in double figures with 20 points, while Burge added 14 points and five rebounds. Senior center Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, Utah/Emery) recorded her fourth consecutive (sixth on the season) double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

YEAR TWO FOR THIGPIN: Head Coach Jenny Thigpin begins her second season at the helm of Dixie State women's basketball. She took over last season just two weeks before the season staårted, following the departure of Catherria Turner. Thigpin was named interim head coach in November, until the "interim" was dropped in January and she became the permanent head coach. Prior to her arrival at Dixie State, Thigpin spent two seasons as an assistant at Pacific West Conference member Fresno Pacific and four years coaching at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif. As the head coach at Buchanan in 2009-10, she led the team to a 22-7 record (the most wins in school history), reaching the final four of the Central Section playoffs.Thigpin is joined by Adam Ross who returns for his second year as an assistant at Dixie State, and new assistant Teddy Fletcher, entering his first year at DSU.

2015-16 ROSTER: The Storm return four starters from last year, led by senior center Taylor Mann (Castle Dale, Utah/Emery), who averaged 11.4 points and nine rebounds per game, and senior guard Leslie Tademy (Phoenix, Ariz./South Mountain) (7.5 ppg). Tademy led the Storm in assists in the 2014-15 season with 136 assists (5.2 per game). Also returning is senior guard Chermayne Moore (Pinole, Calif./Hercules)  (7.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg) and senior forward Brianna Jessop (Hyrum, Utah/Mountain Crest) (4.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg).

Five sophomore reserves also return in guards Shantel Roberts (Rialto, CA/Miller) (2.4 ppg), Sandria Bolden (Las Vegas, Nev./Bishop Gorman) (2.1 ppg), and Gabrielle Cabanero (Las Vegas, Nev./Valley) (2.0 ppg), forward Nishiki Washington (Nagasaki, Japan/Miura) (3.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg), and center Ashlee Burge (Riverton, Utah/Herriman) (1.4 ppg, 1.6 rpg). Additionally, the Storm welcome back redshirt freshman guard Tramina Jordan (Las Vegas, Nev./Centennial).

Three junior college transfers join the Storm in junior guards Tomorie Sangster (Vacaville, Calif./Will C. Wood ), Aliya Davis (Everett, Wash./Woodcreek), and Cassidy Carrillo (La Mirada, Calif./St. Paul). Sangster played at Napa Valley College, averaging 10.8 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game in two seasons. Davis played two seasons at Sierra College, where she averaged 6.6 points per game. Carrillo played at Cerritos College, averaging 8.3 points and two rebounds per game in two seasons for the Falcons.

Freshman guard Raynie Maynes (Salome, Ariz./Salome) represents the only new freshman joining the team in 2015-16. Maynes comes to Dixie State after redshirting last season at the University of Great Falls, and is the younger sister of former Dixie State guard Taylor Maynes (Salome, AZ/Salome).

STORM PICKED NINTH IN PACWEST POLL: Dixie State was picked to finish ninth in the Pacific West Conference preseason coaches poll released in October, after finishing in the same spot with a 7-13 record in conference action last year. California Baptist was picked to win the PacWest, followed by Azusa Pacific, Academy of Art, Fresno Pacific, and Point Loma in the Top-5.

NEXT UP: The Storm hit the road for a grudge match at No. 25 Azusa Pacific on Thursday and their first PacWest matchup with Concordia on Saturday. Both games are set for a 5:30 p.m Pacific Time (6:30 p.m. MT) tipoff.
