First year Utah Tech head women's basketball coach Adam Wardenburg announced on Monday the signing of Utah native and 2025-26 NJCAA Second Team All-America guard Maia Rhay to a financial aid agreement ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Rhay, who is the second NJCAA All-American to sign with the Trailblazer program this spring, played one season at Western Wyoming CC and has two years of eligibility remaining.

"Maia is another All-American addition for us and another conference player of the year," Coach Wardenburg said. "She is a great example of hard work and dedication and what we wanted to build our culture from. She is extremely hard working, is a great teammate, but she also has a great knack for scoring the ball. She is a good shooter, and also has the ability to finish at the rim. She is a great addition for us!"

Rhay (5-8; Draper, Utah), who was also named 2025-26 Region 9 North Player of the Year, started in all 32 games at WWCC last season and averaged 15.2 points on nearly 46 percent shooting, along with 5.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.9 assists per game.

She scored in double figures in 28 of those starts with seven 20-plus point outings, highlighted by a career-high 27 points on 12-of-18 shooting with three 3-pointers and seven rebounds in a 79-43 romp over College of Southern Nevada (12/16/25).

Rhay helped lead the Mustangs to a 22-10 overall record and to the semifinal round of the Region 9 tournament, where she poured in 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a heartbreaking 82-80 loss to Gillette College (3/13/26).

Rhay started her collegiate career at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, where she started in 21 of 24 games played in the 2024-25 season and 7.0 points and 3.4 rebounds a game. She scored 10 or more points six times, including a 16-point effort with eight boards in an overtime home win vs. Adams State (1/9/25).

A native of Draper, Rhay was a four time all-region selection, and Utah 6A third all-state and all-tournament pick at Corner Canyon High School. As a senior at CCHS in 2023-24, Rhay helped lead the Chargers to the 6A state semifinal round.
