SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Dixie State women's tennis team picked up only one point in doubles play and fell just short of a comeback in singles falling to host Dominican, 5-4, on Sunday.

Due to a default, Dixie State won at No. 3 in doubles and had a shot to take a 2-1 lead.

"(Karolin) Kukaras and (Laura) Hartle were up 6-5 in their doubles," said DSU head coach
Eric Pelton. "But, they could not close out the match dropping the next three games."

Foll0wing doubles, Dixie State earned a quick victory at No. 2 when
Stormy Dvorak (Laguna Beach, CA/Park City) won when her opponent defaulted after Dvorak won the first game. Hartle bounced back with a win at No. 3 singles in three sets – 6-1, 6-7, 6-2.
Ashley Anderson (Sandy, UT/Alta High School ) cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

The match came down to No. 4 with
Zenja Draca (Novi Sad, Serbia/Nov Sad (Serbia)). She took the first set, 6-3, but was taken to a third set. Draca was not able to pull out the win after dropping the third set, 6-4.

Dixie State has two Division I opponents on the schedule this week. The Storm travels to Cedar City on Thursday for a rematch with Southern Utah before returning home to Bell Courts on Friday against Weber State. The home match on Friday begins at 3:30 p.m.Â
