No. 25 Sonoma State serves up 8-1 win over Dixie State

Stormy Dvorak claims lone point for Red Storm

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Dixie State women's tennis battled against No. 25 Sonoma State, but fell 8-1 in a Pacific West Conference match at the SSU Tennis Courts.

"The team fought hard today against the No. 25 ranked team," DSU head coach Eric Pelton said.

The nationally ranked Seawolves took all three doubles matches. Dixie State's No. 1 pairing of Karolin Kuakras and Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, UT/East) had the closest match, falling 8-6.

In singles action, Stormy Dvorak (Laguna Beach, CA/Park City) was the lone Storm player to win a point. She dropped the first set in No. 2 singles to Kaitlyn Haithcock, 4-6, but bounced back to win the second set 7-6 (5) in a tiebreak. Forcing the third-set showdown, Dvorak won going away (10-4).

"Stormy played great to come back," said Pelton.

On court five, Sierra Smith (Denton, TX/John H Guyer) forced a first-set tiebreaker before losing the second set 6-0.

Friday action in the Bay Area includes two matches against Mills College and Notre Dame de Namur.
