The Storm opened the day with a 5-4 win over Colorado Christian University despite only winning one out of three doubles matches. Freshman duo
Lacey Hancock (St. George, Utah/Pine View HS) and
Jenna Fosdick (Draper, Utah/Corner Canyon HS) picked up an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles to grab the point necessary to earn the overall victory. Hancock and Fosdick also earned wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles. Sophomore
Karolin Kukaras (Heidelberg, Germany/Internationale Gesamtschule Heidelberg) continued her solid play, winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and junior
Laura Hartle (Salt Lake City, Utah/East HS) picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.
Dixie State picked up where it left off in the afternoon game, defeating Colorado State-Pueblo, 6-3. The Storm picked up wins in two of the three doubles matches, and Hancock cruised to a straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles. Kukaras and Hartle also earned singles victories at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
"It was a great day on the courts for Dixie State tennis," Head Coach
Eric Pelton said. "The girls played some strong tennis. Hancock, Kukaras, and Hartle dominated the Top 3 singles spots, going undefeated today."
The Storm improve to 2-1 on the fall season, and return to action Saturday morning at 8 a.m., taking on Metro State-Denver in their final match of the fall season.
