Storm Split Matches on the Bay



SAN FRANCISCO -- The Dixie State University women's tennis team split a set of matches today on the San Francisco Bay, as they lost to Holy Names University 5-3 and rebounded with a 9-0 win over Notre Dame de Namur.

In the opener, the Hawks were able to win No. 1 doubles 8-3 and No. 3 doubles in 9-8 in a tiebreaker victory. Joy Naigeon (Biot, France /Lycee Simone Veil) and Laura Hartle (/) helped the Red Storm (11-8) pick up a point at No. 2 doubles by winning 8-2.

In the singles matches, Hartle andn Naigeon each picked up points, but the rest of the squad could not overmatch the Hawks. No. 1 singles Stormy Dvorak (Laguna Beach, CA/Park City) was leading 7-6 when they decided not to finish due to the match being decided.

After a short trip, the Red Storm defeated the Argonauts 9-0 after they showed with only four players. No. 1-4 singles and No. 1 and 2 doubles all had DSU cruising to easy victories.

DSU continues the five match road trip as they travel to San Rafael for batlle with Dominican in San Rafael at 1 p.m.
