ST. GEORGE, Utah -- The DIxie State University women's tennis team lost a non conference match to Southern Utah University 8-1 on Thursday afternoon at the Bell Tennis Courts in St. George.
The Red Storm scratched out a win at the No. 6 singles where
Zenja Draca (Novi Sad, Serbia/Nov Sad (Serbia)) defeated Sara Lundin 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. But the Division I Thunderbirds were just too much for the youth of Dixie State.
"The Girls played a good hard match," said
Eric Pelton. "They came out a little slow in the doubles but they picked up their play in the singles!"
Southern Utah started the day with three wins in the double play, and really put the Red Storm in the hole.
Pelton continued, "They all played hard and had a lot of close games they just could not convert on the big points and close out the opportunities they created."
Dixie State will have a couple of weeks off before hosting Weber State and Colorado Mesa University on March 8.
