SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- The Dixie State women's tennis team split a pair of matches in the Bay Area on Thursday, losing it's morning match 9-0 to Domincan University and capping the afternoon off with a 8-1 win over Holy Names. Both matches were played at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center in the John F. Allen Atheltics Complex at Dominican.

In the opener the Lady Penguins (7-10) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in doubles play. The Red Storm (4-12) battled in all their matches, but just came up short. Anna Cronquist (Mapleton, UT/Maple Mountain) played No. 6 singles and jumped out to an early 6-4 win, but lost the second set 6-2 and fell short 10-7 in the tiebreaker third set.

In  the afternoon match against Holy Names (2-11), the Red Storm ooutmatched the Hawks by winning 8-1. DSU dominated all of the matches, except at No. 2 singles.

The Red Storm continue their road trip today with a pair of matches. They travel to Academy of Art this morning at 9 am and then cross the bay for a contest against Mills College at 2 pm.
