Tennis Defeats Holy Names

SAINT GEORGE, UT -- The Dixie State women's tennis team snapped their nine game losing streak today at home by defeating Holy Names 6-3 at Bell Courts.

Coach Eric Pelton said, "The team played a great match today."

The Hawks only fielded a team of  five players and so they did not fill the No. 3 doubles spot or the No. 6 sinlges spot.

The Red Storm No. 2 doubles dominated the match by not dropping a game. They were attacking the net and hitting great volleys all match.

Joy Naigeon (Biot, France /Lycee Simone Veil) fell just short in No. 1 singles, losing the first game 6-3 but battling back and forcing the tiebreaker by winning game two 6-4. She dropped the tiebreaker 10-4.

DSU dominated No. 3, 4, and 5 singles by only losing 3 total games.

Pelton concluded, "This was a great win for our team."

Dixie State now has a month off before traveling to the San Francisco Bay Area to take on Holy Names and Dominican on April 11.
