Women's Tennis Drops Matches to #2 BYU-Hawaii and #20 Cal State LA

PHOENIX, Ariz -- The Dixie State women's tennis team dropped matches today to #2 BYU-Hawaii and #20 Cal State Los Angeles in a tournament in Phoenix, Ariz.

In the morning match against #20 Cal State LA, the Red Storm's Kristen Nichols (Elwood, UT/Bear River) and Sierra Smith (Denton, TX/John H Guyer) in #3 doubles lost a heartbreaker 9-8. It was the only real shot the Red Storm (2-3) had at picking up points and dropped the match 9-0.

In the evening match against #2 BYU-Hawaii, who features the #1 and #4 ranked players in the nation, defeated the Red Storm 9-0.

"It was a long day and the ladies played very well, they played hard against the #2 doubles  against Cal State LA, but we came up short in the tie breaker, said head coach Eric Pelton."

Dixie State concludes their road trip with a 6:30 pm match with Dominican University.
