Women's Tennis Dropped by Colorado Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, CO - The Dixie State women's tennis team lost a match 8-1 to host school Colorado Mesa tonight in Grand Junction, CO.

The Red Storm got on the scoreboard at number one singles when Joy Naigeon (Biot, France /Lycee Simone Veil) defeated Kaylee Davis 6-3, 6-4. The Mavericks were able to win the other five matches.

"It was a good first match of the year for the girls, said Coach Eric Pelton. "They played well and gained some much needed experience. Joy played some big tennis tonight, her peformance really inspired the other girls."

Naigeon and Paige Nisson (Henderson, NV/Coronado) battled at number one doubles, but could not manage to overcome the tandem of Davis and Shannen Manamara. CMU held on to win 8-6.

Dixie State is scheduled for two matches tomorrow. An 11:30 am duel with Mills College of California and a 5:30 pm match with Colorado State Pueblo.
