WTEN: Red Storm Get Victory over Western New Mexico

Lose to Hilo in nightcap

PHOENIX, AZ-The Dixie State College women's tennis team picked up their first win of the 2011 season. They defeated Western New Mexico University 6-3 and lost to Hawaii Hiilo 9-0 this afternoon in Phoenix, AZ.

Coach Eric Pelton said, "We had a great showing of a real desire to win today. Every match was close, it was a hard fought battle."

Sarah Hugues and Lindsay Snow (Saint George, UT/Pine View) both coming from behind in the 3 set tiebreaker win and clinch the team victory. Davis came back from a set down to win it in a 3rd set tie breaker.

Pelton continued "They really stepped it up when it counted, 4 of the matches came down to end and we pulled out 3 of the 4!"

The Red Storm also take on Hawaii Hilo this evening at 6PM.

DSC 0 UHH 9- In the nightcap the Red Storm were overwhelmed by the play of the University of Hawaii Hilo. In the #2 and #3 doubles match, the Red Storm looked to picked up some points an dplayed well early just could not hold on to win.

Coach Eric Pelton said, "It was a good match, We played well Hilo is a strong team and though we were close in a few of the matches and had some opportunities we were not able to get any wins."
