GRAND JUNCTION, CO-The Dixie State College women's tennis team opened its fall season with a match at Mesa State College. The Red Storm dropped their opener 6-3.

Dixie State and Mesa State were tied after the singles events. The Red Storm picked up victories when karlie Hancock defeated Kelleen Sera in #1 singles (6-4, 6-1), Allison Long (West Jordan, UT/West Jordan) defeated Victoria Sargent in #2 singles(6-3, 6-2), and Lauren Tarver (Wrightwood. CA/Serrano) defeated Kate Lowder in #4 singles(6-0, 3-6, 12-10).

The Red Storm dropped all thre of the doubles matches. Head coach Eric Pelton said, "We had some good matches and were a couple of points away from pulling it out."

Dixie State will continue their road trip and take on Colorado Christian and CSU-Pueblo tomorrow in Grand Junction.
