(St. George, Ut - March 21, 2026) - Utah Tech track & field rack up 22 top-8 finishes, five top-3 finishes, and set two program records at the Utah Tech Invitational on Saturday at Greater Zion Stadium.Â
UT got the meet started this morning in the 5000 meter race, where junior
Makayla Pitcher recorded a 2nd place finish with a time of 17:42.68. Pitcher's 2nd place time was good enough for 6th best in outdoor program history.Â
The Trailblazers field athletes got things going with senior
Lainee Leavitt tying for 2nd place in the high jump. Leavitt cleared 1.66 meters today, which is a personal best and 2nd best in program history.Â
At the 100 meter hurdles, senior
Megan Jenkins placed 5th, recording a time of 14.42. Junior
Reyes Hernandez also recorded a top-8 finish, with a time of 14.65, which was good enough to place her 7th in the meet.Â
The highlight of the meet for the Trailblazers came in the 800 meter race where
Whitney Christiansen won the event with a time of 2:14.43. Christiansen's time was good for her 12th career event win and 3rd win at a Utah Tech Invitational over her time as a Trailblazer.Â
The Trailblazers set a pair of school records in the afternoon session of the Utah Tech Invitational as
Averie Perriton finished in 3rd place of the 3000 meter steeplechase, recording a time of 11:01.41. The men's team also recorded a school record as Grayson Peterson set a UT record in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:37.76.
